Wendy Cooper

Dressed for the runway by the beautiful Kate from Sissa Sorella.

Wendy has been a client of Adele's for many years, since their sons were a couple of age groups apart playing rugby union together. Over that time she has used nearly all of Adele's beauty, styling, and fitness services, and has learned a great deal along the way.

She has been through the Her Smile Let's Get Moving Again programs, the Her Smile Spring in Your Step Ten Day Challenges, the Tuggeranong Homestead Retreat, makeup tutorials and afternoon teas, the Her Smile Unique Colour Personality experience (where Wendy learned that bright pink is not a colour she should wear), and the Her Smile 30-Day Online Wardrobe Revamp.

The wardrobe revamp landed at exactly the right moment, right in the middle of COVID lockdown. Part of the process included a lifestyle percentage analysis and being genuinely ruthless about cleaning out the wardrobe. The results were confronting. Wendy discovered her social life was sitting at zero percent, recreation at seven percent, business at thirty-three percent, home at fifteen percent, sleep at thirty-three percent, and binge-watching TV from the couch at twelve percent.

The cleanout itself resulted in six bags of clothes donated, including the bright pink jacket. It freed up real space, in the drawers, in the wardrobe, and in her own sense of what she actually wanted her life to look like.

Lockdown brought other challenges too. Wendy used to exercise five to six times a week, without fail. Somewhere along the way, she got lazy, choosing the couch over getting out and moving. A lot of the clothes still hanging in her wardrobe needed shapewear just to come close to fitting.

To kick-start her way back into movement, Wendy committed to running the Mother's Day Classic, working with Adele to improve her technique, her cardio fitness, and to strengthen her body and posture, both to prevent injury and to run her best possible time.

She completed the Mother's Day Classic here in Canberra this year, alongside her son. From her first training session, nine weeks out from the event, to race day itself, she improved her five kilometre time by three and a half minutes.

She also learned, along the way, that she really doesn't like running.

Wendy's journey continues.
