When the World Turns Upside Down, Sometimes You Just Have to Go With It!
At 6 AM, most people are still snuggled under the covers.
But not me. I was out on a Sydney beach, mat rolled out on the sand, facing the rising sun, ready to challenge my body and my balance.
There’s something magical about beach yoga at sunrise … the cool salt air, the soft, shifting sand under your hands, the rhythm of the waves syncing with your breath. And on this particular morning, something unexpected happened.
As I lifted into a headstand, legs split wide, core engaged, focused and strong, a runner passed right between my feet, throwing his arms up toward the sun.
It was a perfect, serendipitous moment.
You can’t plan these things.
You see, for me, yoga isn’t just about poses or flexibility. It’s about resilience, strength, and the ability to embrace whatever life throws your way, whether that’s a surprise runner in your sunrise headstand or the many unexpected turns life delivers.
At almost 63, I’m proud to say I’ve built a body that supports me, holds me strong, and allows me to do things women half my age might not attempt. But here’s the truth: it didn’t happen overnight.
It happened because I made a commitment to move, to strengthen, to nourish my body, to stay connected to what lights me up.
The lesson here?
👉 Balance is built, not given.
👉 Strength is earned, not gifted.
👉 Magic comes when you show up and stay open to it.
This moment on the beach reminded me that life has a way of surprising us, sometimes when we’re literally upside down!
So here’s my challenge to you:
Where can you show up for yourself today? Where can you build a little more balance, a little more strength, and leave space for a little more magic?
Because believe me, it’s there, waiting for you.
