Stephanie Dickinson.
Meet Her Smile Client Stephanie Dickinson.
Stephanie's story is one of eleven featured in The Women Who Walked, our celebration of the women who walked the 2023 Her Smile Runway.
As a child, Stephanie hated sports and used to get out of sports day as much as she could.
When she was 16 Stephanie's hip started aching. She was sent to a specialist and he diagnosed Hip Dysplasia.
When she was 37 she was in so much pain she insisted that the Doctor replace her hip. They had tried cortisone injections, anti-inflammatories, but nothing worked.
In 2013 her knees started giving her trouble. Having dysplasia meant her knees didn’t develop properly and she ended up with 2 knee replacements in 2014 & 2015 and another hip replacement in 2020.
Consequently, her weight went up, her mobility went down and she struggled to walk unassisted.
She tried so many ways to help herself including chiropractors, physiotherapists, hypnotism, naturopaths, PT's, Pilates, yoga, and the list goes on.
In 2021 Stephanie heard about Adele Haussmann and Her Smile.
In January 2022 she began her journey with Her Smile.
One 60-minute Zoom PT session per week.
After two online PT sessions with Adèle, Stephanie saw her 4 year old granddaughter who looked at her and said,
'NAN! WHY DON'T YOU WALK BENT OVER LIKE THIS ANYMORE?'
You can imagine how excited Steph was with her progress in just one week!
After 16 weeks of training with Adele Stephanie was not only walking unassisted and without a crutch but was also climbing rocky steps in the mountains!
Over the next 12 months she lost 17 kilos and got a lot of confidence in her walking.
Stephanie has met so many women around her age who believe you can’t lose weight once you get over 50. She says it’s as not as easy as it was when She was younger, but it wasn’t overly hard either. Once she got into the routine of the exercises and diet it just became part of life.
Stephanie says ‘I am so grateful that I got in touch with Adele and she has helped me get to where I am now.
Go, Stephanie, we are so proud!
Stephanie was dressed by Simone Finch Designs.
