Narelle Stoll: She Was Just Getting Started. Then Came the Brain Surgery.
Before Her Smile, Narelle Stoll heard Adele Haussmann speak at a Zonta International District 64 event in Canberra, on the importance of learning to move correctly to strengthen the whole body and prevent injury. It was enough to convince her to sign up for the Her Smile Ten Day Spring In Your Step Challenge, wanting more energy and more confidence in her everyday life.
Then came a health crisis nobody could have prepared her for.
Narelle was diagnosed with a cyst on the brain and underwent brain surgery. Two more seizures followed, leaving her with weakness in her left hand and a significant loss of energy and physical fitness. She was made redundant not long after, a moment that could easily have derailed everything, but instead became the turning point that gave her the time to finally prioritise her own health.
Narelle continued working with Adele online throughout her recovery. She was struggling to lift a 1kg dumbbell above her head. Within four months, she was pressing 6kg overhead with real strength and confidence.
The transformation didn't stop there.
Narelle has lost 16 kilograms, and gone from being out of breath on a slow 4km walk to managing brisk 6km walks within the hour. In the same period she was rebuilding from surgery, she also achieved a work promotion with a new company, and earned her Distinguished Toastmaster status.
